Tansen Municipality falls under the Palpa District in the former Western Development Region and is now part of Lumbini Province in Nepal. Tansen Municipality was established in the month of Chaitra in the year 2007 B.S. with 11 wards as one of the oldest municipalities in Nepal. In the year 2048 B.S., 4 wards were added, making a total of 15 wards in this municipality.
